REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA - REAL SUSPECT

Real Housewives of Atlanta is in it's second season and it looks like the Real Wheels are Really Falling off!!

S: (n) housewife, homemaker, lady of the house, woman of the house (a wife who manages a household while her husband earns the family income) * Princeton Edu

Untrue to the name, three of the five women featured are NOT WIVES!!! That would be the first non-reality of this reality show...unwed + housewives = oxymoronic!

Unwed #1 - Kandi Burress, ex-member of the singing (in theory) group X-CAPE * engaged. Future Baby-Daddy has 4 Baby-Momma's (six kids) in line to tap into the Kandi Shop's bank account circa Shar Jackson / Kevin Federline ---> Britney Spears!

Unwed #2 - Sheree Whitfield, all the glamour with none of the OUS. Her now EX-husband, an ex-NFL player, cut the money umbilical cord, leaving her to "downsize" from the mansion to the modest Atlanta track house. Maybe her thirst for the most lavish including a "fashion show with no FASHION" and a spare no expense (where expenses apparently got spared PAYMENT) party to declare her "freedom" from marriage, made him wake up and smell the Prada. Appears she'll be a slave to the judges alimony decision!

Unwed #3 - Kim Zolciak (I would like to buy a vowel), bootleg Barbie who's apparently bedding a REAL housewifes' HUSBAND?!! Still a mystery exactly how, aside from "Big Poppa's" sidepiece allowance, this one makes a living that affords her such a flamboyant existance.

Add to the mix Lisa Wu Hartwell, who is a wife, but one minus a HOUSE after a recent foreclosure on their devalued million dollar home, and the plot just keeps getting thinner. Also rumored was cast member Nene Leakes having some "problems at the pump" in the forclosure department, having to relocate and downsize as well.

This "reality" show proves that sometimes, it's best to not be on a "reality" show. Nene Leakes provides a healthy dose of "Black Auntie at the bar-b-que" humor, but it's not enough to make the obvious fascade of wealth and power these women are putting up go away.

REALITY TALLY - REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA * 3 NON-WIVES - 2 NO HOUSE = 1 NOT-SO REAL REALITY SHOW!!

Overall rating of this show, entertaining at times but mostly "two fingers up the nose".

FLICK PICS - "FUNNY PEOPLE"

Funny People is a serious comedic journey through a turbulent time in the life of George Simmons' (Adam Sandler). Simmons is a comedian who's become enormously successful as a big screen actor - truly a stretch for Sandler - and comes across what may be a life threatening condition. Being your average "guy who's got it all - yet NOTHING", George is reduced to confining himself to his gigantic estate and solemly swimming in his enourmous pool, constantly reminded of the love of his life Laura (Leslie Mann)- AKA "The one that got away" - and sulking in thoughts of having become distant from his "dysfunctional" family...amidst his fame and fortune.

In having this life threatening illness diagnosed, Simmons goes from being the life of the party and big man on campus to a much more dark introspective approach to his life and comedy. Enter chance encounter with the unsuspecting struggling comedian Ira (Seth Rogen) at a popular comedy club. George Simmons decides to go back and reveal his darker side to the people and Ira, whose stand up comedy set is bombing terribly, takes full advantage and makes Simmons the butt of his impromptu jokes.

After a negative exchange immediately after the club George decides the next day to give Ira the call of his life, enrolling Ira to write material for a special event at which Simmons is appearing. The rest as they say, is over two hours (a Ben Hur comedy!) of twists and turns.

This film is very long by comedy standards, and is best categorized as a very original cliche' for the "Man who has EVERYTHING - except L-O-V-E".

Overall Funny People is chuckle out loud funny with some flashes of hilarious and a few "awweee that's so saaaad" moments. I would definitely see it again - when it comes on HBO...definitely! ;)

MIXED MEDIA MOGUL - LELAND SHARP

The works of artist Leland Sharp are best described as iconic visual literature. This description is fitting not only because the majority of Sharp's works are paintings of cultural icons, but his use of various colors and oils as well as his interpretation of these timeless images speaks volumes.

Each mixed media painting, done on canvas with a combination of specialized acrylic, a light sensitive aerodescent and traditional oil paints, has it's own distinct vibrant color scheme while still maintaining the artists signature vision.

Leland Sharp himself is far from being defined by just his immense talent as a visual artist, that gift is surrounded by a myriad of other talents and interests. One of those being his eye for images by way of camera lens. His company / media movement, appropriately called Sharp Faces Entertainment, showcases his keen eye for photographic images and chic Hollywood culture.

The mix of these elements of media provides Leland the ideal stimulus for
creating iconoclastic pieces. By his own definition, Leland Sharp is "...taking icons that matter in different genres of history, and looking at the person from the inside out." A very fitting way of explaining how is eye as a photographer translates onto canvas. He expounds upon that with the reference to his photo negative style as "...taking the negative and bringing color to it..."

Owning a piece of these Sharp images is mainly for those who are recession proof. Originals of Dizzy Gillespie or Miles Davis start at a mere $5,000.00, and ones of Bob Marley or Malcolm X (both signed on the back by the family of each) can put a $20,000.00 dent in your stimulus package. But hey, if you have to ask how much it costs...there are printed copies available for $1,500.00.

At present, Mr. Sharp is finishing up his newest inspiration - the 4X4 foot Barack Obama portrait - which will surely fly off the easel.

DING!!! GOING UP?!! - DAYMOND JOHN AND THE ELEVATOR PITCH

The Art of the "Elevator Pitch" with Fashion Mogul Daymond John

The definition of an "Elevator Pitch" is a very brief overview of an idea or product that could be given in the short span of an elevator ride. Typically 30 seconds or so and under 200 words - an "Elevator Pitch" is a great way to sum up your business and present it to an Executive or Investor at the drop of a hat.

Daymond John - co-founder of FUBU- is now a renowned advisor on both business and positive living on a whole and as a correspondent for MSNBC, and is fast becoming a goto-guy for up and coming moguls seeking an e-mentor.

Catch his words of wisdom on TWITTER or find him on MSNBC or youtube. Below is a recent video on how to perform your own "Elevator Pitch".

FLICK PICKS - "THE HANGOVER"

Very short review..."The Hangover", starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis & Justin Bartha is genius and HILL-EFFIN-LARIOUS comedy.

EL TRES INN - GOLDEN HIDEAWAY IN SILVER LAKE, CA

El Tres Inn is the true meaning of "hidden jewel", tucked away in the low-key Hollywood neighboring city of Silver Lake, CA. The name "El Tres" itself has a not so hidden meaning, as this is a 3 suite apartment style inn.

With a welcoming decor that embraces every sense as soon as you enter the nondescript building and a perfect blend of accessibility and secret tree-house, El Tres Inn is on it's way to becoming the scene of future Hollywood lore.

Spa caliber bathing features cotton towels by Ralph Lauren, custom robes by Matrushka and organic EO Bath &Body products.
Teaming with the slick interior design are amenities to keep your attention for either a short or extended stay. Lounge in your living room in front of a 52 inch TV complete with Blu Ray DVD player, or in your bedroom enjoy the 32 inch TV, both having Premium Channel DirecTV.

For the digital mogul, WiFi keeps you in the online loop or live the analog life by delving into the vinyl record collection on the old-school 33 record player.

For true at home on the road lovers, the complete kitchenette in each room has refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven.

Attached to the getaway is a jewel within the jewel. El Chavo Mexican Restaurant has all your fave dishes from south of the border and at least one of your Margarita's comes in the room amenities line-up. Perhaps the best part of having a bar/restaurant just steps away from your suite, not a long trek after your...indulgences.

Nightlife is in abundance in the area and El Tres has a key to the cities of Silver Lake, Hollywood and Echo Park at your disposal.

Surrounded by trendy area people and businesses, one could drop by El Tres Inn, no luggage and no plans, and stylize a platinum life in minutes.

THE FOUNDRY RESTAURANT LOS ANGELES - MELROSE DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

The Foundry on Melrose is a Restaurant, Lounge & Bar that's primed to be the next "in" destination for both Hollywood and non-Hollywood taste-makers.

Set in the middle of the Melrose madness, it's easily accessible for those who frequent the area and definitely pops out for the eyes of random accidental tourists.

Atmosphere at The Foundry is a combination of laid back and in your face sexiness. Dim lighting throughout, a cushy lounge area as you walk in the door complete with low to the ground booths and short leather square stools, select booths that feature the action in the kitchen for diners and a large back patio - covered and decorated with an ambient fireplace just to add to the mood. You're also encouraged to dine in a front patio area that puts you face to face with Melrose foot traffic and all the scenes and action of prime time shopping.

Most important at any restaurant is the FOOD! In that area, Owner & Executive Chef Eric Greenspan brings brilliance and simplicity together under one roof. Highly recommended is an appetizer we're all familiar with - GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES! The special "Foundry Twist" is that these childhood memories come with a grown up addition - Short Rib! Also adding to it's grown up nature, are ingredients of Taleggio, Raisin Bread & Apricot-Caper Puree. This is a lounge area delight for certain.

Suggested entrees include the New York Strip and/or Albacore Tartare. Each is paired with a suggested wine, and in all honesty, any and every entree served is made with exquisite taste and presentation to boot...close your eyes and pick one!!

Bottom Line: If you're in L.A., get yourself to The Foundry on Melrose - if you're NOT in L.A., get yourself to L.A. - then get yourself to THE FOUNDRY ON MELROSE!!

FILMMAKER HIGHLIGHTS - IN THE SCOPE

"THE LEGEND OF GOD'S GUN" - RAZOR TREE FILMS

"THE LEGEND OF GOD'S GUN" is FETTUCINI WESTERN - thicker than SPAGHETTI as you can see just by looking at the trailer. The appearance and texture of the film alone are cutting edge and give the effect of a cult classic in the making. Available on DVD, one can only hope that one day "The Legend of God's Gun" will grow new legs and hit theaters for all who missed the first movement.

"DETERMINISM" - DIRECTED BY RANJU & SANJIT MAJUMDAR

The No-Budget Independent Film "Determinism" appears to be a very compelling and action packed indie. Directed by Penn State University grads Ranju & Sanjit Majumdar, "Determinism" has a trailer that lured me in and made me want more. I'm definitely on the edge of my seat anticipating the full length feature.

"EL MEXICAN" - FINGERS ON FACE PRODUCTIONS

THIS my people is one that should be a cult classic. A hilarious - horrible gringo-Spanish toting dirty-rice western, "El Mexican" is worthy of Saturday Night Live - mini movie series - rotation.

Check this short out - laugh out loud - and check out FINGERS ON FACE PRODUCTIONS on Myspace Films * www.myspace.com/fingersonfaceproductions

ISADORA - ON EVERYBODY'S LIPS

ISADORA is next in line to steal your heart. Beautiful, stylish, elegant and a voice that resonates in your veins - "Issy" has all the elements of Soul music clashing with Jazz to make a magical ride happen. Best described as SADE meets VOGUE MAGAZINE, if ISADORA doesn't take every region of the world by storm with her "style + substance" energy, we're worse off here than we already suspected.
